What a week it was. Exploring the hidden paradise which is Tawang, facing sub zero temperatures and heavy snowfall, chugging through a tiger reserve with not a human soul for miles, punctures in the middle of nowhere, and so much more. What an adventure.
In a week which went by so eventfully, it’s hard to come back to our greyscale concrete jungles and boring lives. The drive which started from Guwahti took us to Tawang through Bhalukpong and Dirang. Through the journey, we visited monasteries, war memorials, and age old forts. The temperatures varied with the altitude, and the highest point of this trip was 15,200 ft at Bum La Pass. What I’m trying to tell you here is that the trip was never lukewarm, it was never just moderate. It was bubbling with variety and with each variety came a different adventure. We came back to Guwahati the same way we went, and on the way back came the detour through the Pakke Tiger Reserve which was the scariest bit of the drive. There wasn’t a dull moment throughout the trip, and that’s what made it so special.
In such a short span, there were countless memories made by SOUL members and their Tata SUVs. So it was a bit hard for everyone when they had to drop off their vehicle keys in Guwahati and say goodbye to each other. But this wasn’t the first SOUL drive, and it’s not going to be the last. And a quick chat with all the members who made the trip said that they’re definitely going to join for the next one. So stay tuned until next time when SOUL goes to Leh and Ladakh.
