Children’s Day Special: The best gift might be a child safety seat

What is the best gift that you can give to your child on Children’s Day? According to our Assistant Ed, the best gift he’s ever given his children is getting them used to a child safety seat. Here are three reasons off the top of our heads why we agree with him.

1) A child safety seat is safer than a mom’s arms

Imagine a mom, dad and a kid travelling in a car at a very sane 80kmph. Apply Newton’s first law of motion. What have you got? That all three are travelling at the same speed as the car. At some point dad is forced to drop anchors. What happens next? Everyone inside is flung forward. Mom and dad are stopped by the seatbelt. Who stops the kid? Mom’s arms will definitely not be able to hang on to a five or six kilo bundle of joy wanting to continue travelling towards the windscreen at 80. A secured child safety seat will definitely keep the kid safe.

2) A strapped kid means less distraction for the driver

Would you want an out of control basketball bounding around the cabin when you’re trying to drive through maddening traffic? Or when you’re headed for that road trip? No, you wouldn’t. Then wouldn’t you also want your pesky brat strapped in and out of harm’s way when you’re on the road?

3) These seats are as comfy as mommy’s lap and they don’t get tired

How long do you think mommy can hold her pose with a squirming baby in her arms? Guess what, child safety seats can hold that pose forever. And the fact that these seats are made with plush padding and soft braces that support a baby’s neck means they are as comfy as mommy’s lap.

Meanwhile, Chicco India  has recently launched a new range of child car seats for different weight ranges, designed especially for the Indian market. “In India, there is no regulation related to car seats. Most European countries require children from birth to a height of 1.5 metres to travel using a restraint system like car seats which are appropriate for their height and weight. Using car seats should be practiced as a good habit to ensure your baby’s safety,” said Rajesh Vohra, CEO, Artsana India, at the launch.
