The much awaited entry level adventure touring motorcycle has been unveiled at the EICMA 2016 by BMW Motorrad. The G310GS has been a subject of many spy pictures and loads of speculations in the past. However, now that the bike has been unveiled officially, it is clear that it shares the same chassis and engine with its naked sibling, the G310R.

The BMW-TVS G310GS will be powered by a 313cc, liquid cooled, DOHC 4 valve single cylinder engine which churns out a maximum power of 33.5bhp at 9,500rpm and maximum torque of 28Nm at 7,500rpm. It comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. For braking, the G310GS gets a 300mm single disc with 4-piston radial caliper at the front and 240mm disc with a single piston floating caliper at the rear.

There have been a few changes made in this ‘Adventure’ motorcycle G310GS over its naked sibling. The front and rear fork travel is longer to suit the nature of the segment, the bike comes with an optional luggage carrier, centre stand, heated grips, tank bag, GPS support and Navigator to meet the needs of an adventure tourer.

It looks like the BMW-TVS merger is turning out to be considerably fruitful with versions of the G310R coming in now with this adventure motorcycle adding to the list. Because the G310R will be manufactured in India and shares most of its mechanicals with the G310GS, there is a likelihood of the adventure tourer being made here as well, and that spells great news for enthusiasts.
