Daymak C5 Blast is the fastest go-kart in the world

Words: Dipalika Mohanty

Daymak Inc, Toronto announced its new product, Daymak-C5-Blast Go-kart, what the team believes to be the fastest Go-Kart in the world. Aldo Biocchi, the President of Daymak states that this is the fastest 100 per cent clean energy Go-Kart up until now. As per the company, Daymak plans on achieving 0 to 60 mph (0-96.6kmph) in less than 1.5 seconds, which is a full second faster than the Tesla P100D and the Bugatti Chiron. This obviously takes a whole minute to sink in.

The manufacturers themselves claim that this kind of speed is capable of dropping the trousers of anyone unfortunate enough to be in the vicinity in its passing by. Well, for such a whiplash it can also potentially snap your neck (the kind of speed rarely witnessed). Daymak themselves admit that there’s literally no one that “needs” that kind of speed, but money’s already betting on the Toronto-based Light Electric Vehicle on developing such crazy fast go-karts. There are a few out there who would not mind shelling out $60,000 summing up to how much a Mercedes-Benz C-Class costs in India. The only thing more ridiculous than the 0-60 mph drag time is its price tag. Two versions of the Daymak go-kart will be offered – a Daymak C5 Blast regular with 1 motor retailing for $9999 USD (approx. Rs 6.5 lakh) and the Daymak C5 Blast EDF model for $59,995 USD (approx. Rs 40 lakh).

What makes this little thunder monster this quick is liquid cooling for the 10000w watt motor, Daymak Drive controller, 8 EDF motors for combined output of 96 kg of upward thrust and 4 rear EDF motors for 60kg of forward thrust. So it works somewhat like a hovercraft. The go-kart weighs approximately 200kg, but the weight can be balanced down to approximately 100kg. The EDF motors and Daymak technology helps balance down the weight, making it extremely light and fast. Courtesy to its beastly 48v/10KW brushless DC motor and 12 electric ducted fan motors that come with 12 5000mHA batteries, the new king of speed accelerates from standstill to 96.5 kmph in flat 1.5 seconds. Making the machine ‘almost fly’, thanks to the ridiculously powerful hydraulic brakes, powerful enough to tame such unheard of speeds.

The company currently is looking to apply the current technology to a variety of other projects and seeking strategic partners and investors that will help them bring the project to its next level. The Vice President, Jason Roy and the Lead Project Manager, Akili Sylvester makes remarks as to what a matter of pride it is for Canada to hold a record in engineering, which is a big time achievement. The only concern Daymak holds is to find someone fearless enough to drive it according to the company!

Adding to the lightning fast speed and almost weightless technology of this new go-kart, Baiocchi makes a Star Wars remark to the new model. Who does not like some bring back Star Wars nostalgia right? Baiocchi continues, “We could actually make it lighter and faster and at some point the go-kart would start floating like the Star Wars land speeder”. The Daymaks also comment that speed will not be an issue at all and eventually the vehicle can even go under 1 second from 0-60 making it the fastest one that exists till date. With a vision of becoming the leader of Light Electric Vehicles, Daymak’s plan is to have Guinness Book of World Records to officially validate their current statement very soon.
