Driving a car to work everyday is an expensive affair and given the modest wages of an intern, I am often running low on greenbacks by the end of the month. So yes, I am glad that the Victor is my long term vehicle. Now that statement might sound like harakiri given our profession and many of you might suggest I should go looking for a katana to impale myself on but the fact remains that the Victor’s frugal nature bails me out till the next paycheck. And while doing that, I do not have to suffer the ignominy of missing out on performance. Well, it is no rocketship but can hold its own against 150cc motorcycles up to 60kmph given its attributes of low weight and shorter gearing.

The lower kerb weight and light front means it is flickable, a boon in traffic. On the flipside, the front feels nervous at speed and with Ryan as my pillion, you might as well be riding on one wheel.

The best part about commuter bikes, apart from the mileage, is the ability to perform like clockwork. There are niggles though. Like the starter button refusing to engage in the rains having me resort to the ancient art of kick starting the bike. Surprisingly, the button works fine on sunny days. This issue will be looked into at the next service.

Date acquired: March 2016
Duration of test: 6 months
Total mileage: 2,314km
Mileage this month: 315km
Overall kmpl: 57kmpl
Costs this month: Nil
