Auto Expo 2016: TVS showcases new concepts

Despite having just launched the Apache and the Victor last month, one would be lead to believe that is what TVS were going to be drawing attention at this year’s expo. What really caught eyeballs however, were the three concepts that TVS had bought on display.
The first of the lot, is a fully faired motorcycle called the Akula 310, which has been designed as a tribute to TVS’s racing division. The Akula 310 has been designed around a trellis framed and uses carbon-fiber bodywork that has been designed by TVS in a wind-tunnel to minimize wind resistance. That aside, the Akula will feature ram air intakes, die-cast alloy swing-arm, radial calipers and a steering damper. From the looks of it, the Akula also features a TVS racing performance exhaust. Things that would usually be associated by a proper race bike as well. However, TVS has been entirely tight-lipped as to whether the Akula will ever make it to the production line or what exactly the engine is, or how much power it makes.
The TVS concept racer, the X21 is based on the inherent racing DNA of TVS Motor company. It shares the racing DNA with RTR 200. With its bikini fairing, it feels more oriented towards being more of a track machine. The bike comes with a high revving 212.4 cc, 4 valve, twin oil cooled, fuel injected motor. It gets twin flow discharge muffler. The bike gets a lightweight and compact track derived chassis to aid handling. The X21 get mono-shocks at the rear and telescopic shock in the front. The digital instrumentation cluster is designed to allow one to calculate acceleration as well as lap timings, if one finds themselves at MMRT, Kari or the BIC. However again being a race-concept, chances of the X21 making it to showrooms are bleak. We can however hope for a watered down street version in the near future.
The maxi scooter TVS Entorq 210 uses the powertrain from the Daz scoobek mated to a version of the engine from the RTR. The engine is placed in a new frame which bears the underpinning for the future scooters to come.  It does not have very sporty lines and divides opinion. It has been kitted with USD forks with ABS assisted braking available.  Once again, TVS officials said that they were exploring the idea of the evolved scooter.
