First sketch of Aston Martin’s newest hypercar ‘Project 003’ released

Aston Martin has released a sketch of its latest hypercar in the works, codenamed Project 003 and if you have seen the Valkyrie, expect something similarly radical when it makes its appearance. The company says that the new hypercar will share technologies with the Valkyrie (codenamed AM-RB-001), which was unveiled in March 2017 and it was a result of the collaboration between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing.

The Project 003 hypercar will also have a mid-engine layout and will be powered by a petrol-electric hybrid powertrain, unlike the Valkyrie, which was powered by a naturally aspirated V12 engine. The Valkyrie has a 1:1 power to weight ratio. The company claims that the Project 003 will have ‘outstanding’ levels of downforce and aerodynamics for a road legal car. It will be homologated for road use and will be limited to 500 units globally, with the first models slated for a late 2021 arrival. Aston Martin aims to follow in the footsteps of its previous two hyper cars – the Valkyrie and Valkyrie AMR Pro.

Andy Palmer, Aston Martin Lagonda president and group chief executive on Project 003

“It was always the intention for the Aston Martin Valkyrie to be a once-in-a lifetime project, however, it was also vital to us that Valkyrie would create a legacy: a direct descendent that would also set new standards within its own area of the hypercar market, creating a bloodline of highly specialised, limited production machines that can exist in parallel with Aston Martin’s series production models. I’m thrilled to announce that this car is the Project ‘003’, and our next step into a dynamic and exacting arena.”

There are no other technical details released by the company, as the car is still under development and there is no word about when it plans to pull the wraps off the Project 003.
