Datsun has begun accepting pre-bookings for its 1.0-litre redi-GO AMT. The car can now be pre-booked for a sum of Rs. 10,000. Expected to be launched in the next few weeks, the AMT will only be provided with the 1.0-litre 68bhpand 91Nm engine. The Datsun redi-GO 1.0L AMT is powered by the same three-cylinder petrol engine that powers the standard 1.0-litre model and comes mated to a five-speed gearbox. The engine and the transmission is shared with the Renault Kwid AMT. The Kwid’s AMT doesn’t allow for a sequential manual gear-shift as on opponents such as the Alto K10 AMT. It is yet to be seen if the redi-GO would get an option for the same. We expect the interior and exterior design to be similar to the manual redi-GO. Also, the features and kit should be the same as on the manual variant. Prices for the Datsun redi-GO will be around Rs. 30,000-40,000 more than the current top-of-the-line redi-GO. Expect the car to be priced at around Rs. 4 lakh(ex-showroom, Delhi).
Commenting on the occasion, Jerome Saigot, Managing Director, Nissan motor India Pvt. Ltd. said, “We keep customers at the heart of everything we do. During the last 20 months, we have launched four variants of Datsun redi-GO to address the changing needs of our customers. With the new redi-GO AMT, we aim to provide consumers with the convenience of city drive at an accessible price and best in class ground clearance, mileage, headroom space, high seating position and attractive design.”
