Lamborghini launched the Urus in India today, the most anticipated SUV worldwide currently. The silhouette of the car is undeniably Lamborghini and it will stand out in a crowd full of super SUVs of its class. The striking LEDs in the front and rear get the horizontal Y-graphic design along with the blacked out headlamps for the traditional Lamborghini look. You also get monster wheels that can be had in rim sizes up to 23 inches. You will find lots of resemblances with both Huracan and Aventador, if you look at it with a keen eye.
Under the hood of this monster SUV is 4-litre, twin turbocharged V8 engine that makes 642bhp and a mind numbing 850Nm of torque. It is the same engine that powers the Porsche Panamera Turbo and the Cayenne Turbo, but tuned to make more power for the Urus; 99bhp and 80Nm more to be precise. The Urus is 4-wheel driven where power is distributed in a ratio of 60:40 to the rear and front wheels. The ratio can also be set to send more power to rear wheels manually as well.
The Urus weighs 2200kg and Lamborghini has claimed a top speed of 305 kmph with a 0-100kmph sprint time of 3.6sec for this mammoth. The SUV gets six driving modes. Strada, Sport and Corsa are standard modes, while the Neve (snow), Terra (off-road) and Sabbia (sand) are additional modes to deal with changing terrains. The SUV comes equipped with ANIMA (Adaptive Network Intelligent Management) system that calibrates the engine mapping, suspension and traction control in different situations. The ‘Ego’ mode allows the user to customise the settings.
Speaking on the occasion of the Urus launch, Mr. Andrea Baldi, General Manager, Lamborghini Asia Pacific, said, “The Lamborghini Urus, world’s first super SUV is a pure reflection of commitment to excellence imbibing Lamborghini DNA to create a unique never seen before product. Urus is going to be a game changer worldwide offering appearance, performance, technology and innovation; like a true Lamborghini. India, as a market for Lamborghini is playing a very interesting role step by step into the overall sales globally. Urus will change the game for Lamborghini in India in terms terms of volumes and we expect to grow our volumes 2.5 – 3 times, further strengthening our presence in the country.”
