JLRIL starts accepting bookings for the diesel powered XE

Abhishek Wairagade

Jaguar has started accepting bookings for the diesel variant of the XE, starting from today, across its 24 dealerships pan India.

Jaguar’s rival to 3 Series and C-Class was launched in February 2016 and came with only petrol engine options till date. The petrol engine was being offered in two sets of tunes; 197bhp and 237bhp. The 237bhp engine comes only with the top-of-the-line Portfolio trim. But as the uncertainty around 2,000cc plus diesel engines remains unquestioned in the capital, Jaguar has gone ahead and equipped the saloon with the same 2-litre diesel unit that does duty on the XF. The engine makes 177bhp and 430Nm and comes mated to a 8-speed gearbox.

During the announcement, Rohit Suri, Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover India Ltd. (JLRIL), said, “In the past one year, Jaguar XE has gained immense popularity and success in the Indian market and we are now pleased to offer the choice of diesel to our customers.”
