Indian Automotive Heritage Celebrated at Cartier Concours

112 of the rarest and classiest automobiles were part of the 2017 class of vehicles which competed for the honour of winning the 2017 Cartier Travel With Style Concours d’Elegance. This being the fifth edition, the Cartier Concours took place in the grand surrounding of the Taj Falaknuma Palace, Hyderabad and was hosted by Princess Esra of Hyderabad. The setting was quite apt to the occasion as the previous Nizams were quite fond of their automobiles.

The vehicles were all curated by none other than Manvendra Singh of Barwani, a renowned automobile historian. The 73 cars were classified into eight distinctive classes while the 39 motorcycles were separated into three.

Arjun Oberoi’s 1947 Indian Chief won the Best of Show Motorcycles award. The Chief was done up immaculately and paid great amount of attention to detail. The Indian bears significant part of motorcycling history and hence was adjudged the Best of Show.

It has taken 2 years to transform this 1914 Wolsley 30/40 HP from rust to running condition making owner Srivardkhan Kanoria a deserved winner of the show. The Wolsley’s 7.0-litre straight six engine was restored to its prime working condition with everything made from age-appropriate materials.
