Hyundai to launch the Tucson AWD in March 2017

The Korean based company has announced that the freshly launched Tucson can be expected to be offered in an AWD version in the first quarter of 2017. The SUV, which looks like a baby Santa Fe, comes with a two-wheel drive option only right now.

The Tucson comes with a 2-litre petrol engine with maximum power of 150bhp and maximum torque of 192Nm mated either to a manual or an automatic GL gearbox. All the trims of the diesel variant come with 2-litre engine with 6-Speed gearbox. However, the Tucson gets a manual, automatic GL and an automatic GLS as well. While the manual petrol variant costs Rs 18.99 lakh, the automatic variant costs Rs 21.7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The price range of the diesel variant starts at Rs 21.5 lakh for the manual and Rs 24.99 lakh for automatic accordingly.

Based on Hyundai’s Fluidic 2.0 design, the Tucson currently goes up against its only nemesis in the segment, the Honda CR-V. However, the CR-V does not get the diesel option nor does it come with an AWD version. The CR-V price range is from Rs 22.2 lakh to Rs 26.3 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) which is a tad higher than the Tucson.

With features like the front parking sensors, dual barrel LED headlamps, LED static bending lights, fog lamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps, twin chrome exhaust, 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and puddle lamps, the Tucson is a more attractive option then, for buyers.

We drove the SUV in Chandigarh recently and if you would like to know more about it, read the review here.
