Peugeot had recently announced a partnership with the CK Birla group to produce Peugeot vehicles in India by 2020 and the next step the company has taken is to buy the iconic Ambassador brand from its Indian partner.
The French car-maker is already in JV with the CK Birla Group to assemble and distribute their passenger cars in India. And now that Peugeot has bought the car brand from the CK Birla group, the recent deal indicates there’s more in the pipeline. Peugeot could be looking at reviving the brand with its new offerings and striking an India-connect due to the high recall value of the Ambassador could prove to be a smart move by the French car maker.
Ambassador that was used less than a decade ago by both, the Prime Minister and the common man was discontinued around three years ago.
