Fiat Argo revealed in Brazil

Team Evo India

Fiat Punto has been in the market for decades and has received an iconic stature globally. But having served the Italian carmaker for long enough, Fiat has brought in its successor out, in Brazil, named Argo.

The Argo does not take cues from its predecessor and is completely sporty unlike the Punto, which had more elegant, Maserati-ish lines. At the front, the large diamond grille is similar to the Egea (Linea’s replacement) while the bumper comes with large honeycomb air scoops. The bonnet is inspired by the 124 Spider with nudges contouring the sloping lines. At the rear, it gets a sporty exhaust incorporated in the bumper with a faux diffuser. The well proportioned tail gate features C shaped tail lights flanked by a large Fiat logo.

The sporty theme continues on the inside. Various trims are offered with coloured dashboard panels, contrasting with the black theme. The triple layout instrument cluster gets digital as well analog displays. The fascia is flanked by a large 7-inch touchscreen that comes integrated with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Climate control knobs are mounted below the touchscreen, next to the digital display.

The Argo comes with Fiat’s all-new portfolio of engines, ranging from 1-litre petrol to 1.8-litre diesel and come with the choice of five-speed manual/automated manual and six-speed automatic transmission.

The hatch will be sold in Brazilian markets for now and we are not sure if FCA will ever bring it to India but we really hope that they replace the aging Punto with the Argo as soon as possible, to give the Italian carmaker a new lease of life.
