Bentley Motors has pulled the wraps off its first SUV ahead of the Frankfurt Show.
Powering the Bentayga is a twin-turbocharged 6.0-litre W12 engine that produces 600bhp and 900Nm of torque. The W12 TSI engine uses both direct and indirect fuel injection and with all this power the Bentley claim, the SUV can breach the 100kmph barrier in 4.1 seconds and has a top speed of 301kmph.
Keeping with its SUV stature, Off road settings on offer are Bentley’s Drive Dynamics Mode with upto eight modes. Bentley’s Dynamic Ride is also the world’s first electronic active roll control technology.
For all round comfort, the Bentayga comes with multi-mode air suspension system. The SUV boasts Advanced Driver Assistance Systems using 12 ultrasonic sensors, 5 cameras along with short and long range radars that interpret and respond to the surroundings of the car. Warnings and vehicle information are projected onto the windscreen into driver’s direct field of view.
The list of features include High beam assist, blind spot warning, hill descent control, electronic differential lock, pedestrian warning, top view, park assist, adaptive cruise control, night vision, heads-up display, and an on-board infotainment system.
On the inside is typical Bentley opulence with 22-way adjustable front seats that come with a massage system, seat heating and ventilation. There are 15 carpet options to choose from alongwith a choice of 15 interior trims. In terms of technology, there is an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that comes with navigation with an in-built a 60GB hard drive. Of course, there is the Breitling clock on the dashboard. It is moulded in solid gold (rose or white gold), with a choice of either a mother-of-pearl or black ebony face and decorated with eight diamond indexes.
On the exterior, you can specify from 17 paint colours, with upto 90 hues in the extended range. Alloy wheel ranging from 20” to 22” are on offer too. Like all Bentley cars in made at their factory in Crewe, the Bentayga will be hand-made with about 130 man hours to handcraft each car.
A diesel and a hybrid version of the car will also be available in the future.
