Hyundai has shown the face of a new Accent, sold in India as the Verna, ahead of the Toronto Motor Show where the car will be unveiled on February 16, 2017. To create interest around this new generation version of one of Hyundai’s best selling models, the Korean car maker released a teaser video showcasing the front and back of the car.
What can be seen in the video however is how much the styling of the new Accent is borrowed from its larger sibling, the good looking Elantra. Just one look at the large grille with the trapezoidal headlamps and even the tail lamps is good enough to make the resemblance crystal clear.
We suspect that Hyundai will launch this rather handsome Accent as the all-new Verna in India towards the second half of 2017, albeit with the existing powertrain options. However the car is likely to be updated with all the creature comforts that can now be seen on the more expensive Hyundais, including Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto. Once launched the new car will certainly take the fight straight to the updated Honda City that is due for launch tomorrow and the updated Maruti Suzuki Ciaz that is also due for an upgrade soon.
