Toyota have unveiled the Yaris and it seeks to take on the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and the Honda City. Expected to be the biggest Toyota launch this year, Toyota has a lot riding on the Yaris. The design is typically Japanese and follows from the flowing design of Toyota’s other cars. Although noticeably similar to other cars in this segment, the car does manage to distinguish itself with its front end looking characteristically Toyota.
The Yaris will be offered with a 1.5-litre dual VVT-I petrol engine mated to a 7-speed CVT or to a 6-speed manual. The CVT variant will get paddle shifters too. The car will come loaded with safety features. There will be seven airbags – driver and passenger airbags, side airbags, knee airbags, and curtain airbags along with ABS and EBD with segment firsts like tyre pressure monitoring system.
Convenience features like driver-side powered seats, front parking sensor and gesture-controlled infotainment system also make it to the Yaris. The car also gets a 4.2 inch Multi-information display TFT screen for the driver information panel. Also available are automatic headlamps, rain sensing wipers and hill start-assist.
The car can be booked by customers starting April 2018.
