It’s over? Already? But it was just. I mean. Why? I thought we had a lot more to explore. Truly, the North East of India has left a lasting impression on all seven of us who began the drive from Delhi. The rest day just seemed to zoomed through, the boys still feel that they need a bit more rest. Thankfully, the cars don’t. After their special treatment at the hands of the extremely welcoming lads of Renault Shillong, the cars seem to have found another spring in their step.
We were going back the same way that we entered the North East, up to Bongaigon and then straight off to the tea plantation area of Siliguri. There were still a few corners left for us, a parting gift of sorts from North East to keep us happy for the forthcoming days. However, as we trailed further into Assam, the number of idiots on the road drastically increased.
However as we were back on to highways and not B-Roads, the average speed as well as the fuel efficiency figures rose. We hardly stopped on our dash to Siliguri. Two of the hottest FIFA World Cup 2018 matches were scheduled for later in the day and we had to watch both of them entirely and not just the second one. Hard luck Argentina and Portugal. Congrats France. Kudos Uruguay.
We will be spending yet another day getting to the southern part of West Bengal as we will be joining the Robins for yet another food drive. We don’t know how the monsoons will act. We hope to have their mercy and not show their fury for the duration of the drive.
