Mercedes-Benz CLA Concept
Mercedes India has showcased the CLA concept at the Auto Expo 2025. It is underpinned by Merc's n32 Modular Architecture (MMA), which supports both electric and ICE powertrains. While details about the ICE variant are scarce, the focus is on the upcoming CLA EV.
Although the exact battery size has not been disclosed, Mercedes guarantees a WLTP-certified range of over 750km. The EV’s battery has a usable capacity of 85kWh and a drivetrain efficiency of 93 per cent, with an energy consumption rate of 12 kWh/100 km. Its 800V system supports DC charging at up to 320kW, allowing a 400km charge in just 15 minutes with a fast charger.
The concept features a rear-axle-mounted electric motor paired with a two-speed transmission. The MMA platform supports all-wheel drive (AWD). The car gets the same signature in the tail lights.
Inside, the CLA concept showcases gets the MBUX Superscreen that combines three displays – the instrument cluster, central touchscreen, and passenger display. Similar to the EQXX concept, these screens are powered by a supercomputer utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning. Its cEco-friendly materials dominate the cabin, including recycled PET, paper trims, bamboo fibre for door mats, and vegan silk-like fabric for the edges of the door pockets.
The new CLA will feature SAE Level 2 semi-autonomous driving capabilities, enabling hands-free operation under specific conditions. LiDAR sensors facilitate these functions, and over-the-air updates could enable Level 3 autonomy in the future.
