The 2025 Dakar Rally in Saudi Arabia kicked off today with the 29km Prologue stage taking place in Bisha. Daniel Sanders and Henk Lategan won the top spots in the bikes and car categories respectively with impressive times, though only time will tell who comes out on top after each of the 12 stages of this hardcore rally. Competition is fierce and here’s a complete category-wise lowdown on the standings after the Prologue stage.

2025 Dakar Rally bikes

Daniel Sanders from the Red Bull KTM Factory team won the top spot in the bikes category, while Ross Branch from Hero MotoSports, the only Indian team at the event, came in second place with an impressive performance. The podium was completed by Edgar Canet from the Red Bull KTM Factory team who came in third place.

2025 Dakar Rally cars

Toyota Gazoo Racing’s driver Henk Lategan bagged the first place in the cars category of the 2025 Dakar Rally, while Mattias Ekstrom from the Ford M-Sport team came in a close second, finishing just one second behind the leader. The Dakar legend Nasser al-attiyah came in third place with The Dacia Sandriders, with just 20 seconds between the leader and third place.

2025 Dakar Rally trucks

Mitchel Van Den Brink, Moises Van De Pol and Jarno Torrallardona from the team Eurol Rally Sport won the trucks category. Vaidotas Zala, Paulo Fiuza and Max Van Grol from the Skuba Team De Rooy FPT finished a close second, just seven seconds behind the leader in the category. The MM Technology team with Martin Macik, Frantisek Tomasek and David Svanda came in third place in the trucks category.
