The car retains its tall boy stance but is wider and taller from the old Santro. Hyundai’s fluidic design language is evident all around and upfront is the cascade styled chrome front grille. There are ORVMs with turn indicators, fog lamps, micro antenna and dual tone body colored bumper with reflectors as well.

Under the hood is the same 1.1-litre four-cylinder engine from the old i10 that has been tweaked for better performance, efficiency and refinement. It makes 68bhp and 99Nm of torque. Power is sent to the front wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission. There’s also the option of automatic transmission as it has the ‘Smart Auto AMT’ which will feature in a Hyundai for the first time ever. Moreover the Santro is set to suit all kinds of buyers as its offered in a factory fitted CNG variant as well, which makes 58.2bhp and 64.3Nm of torque. Both the AMT and CNG variants will be offered only in Magna and Sportz variants. Hyundai claims that the real world fuel economy of the Santro is 20.3kmpl.

Though, what’s special about the new Santro are a host of segment first features. Firstly there’s a large 17.63cm touchscreen and infotainment screen that doubles up as a display for the rear parking camera as well. It also offers Android Auto and Apple Car Play. More segment firsts include voice recognition, speed sensing auto door lock, impact sensing auto door unlock and rear ac vents.
