Auto Expo 2018: Renault showcases the Trezor concept

Words by Afzal Rawuther

Renault has showcased its Trezor GT concept at the Auto Expo 2018. Designed by Renault’s design chief Laurens Van Den Acker, the Trezor gives us an indication about the direction that the design of future Renault cars will take. The long bonnet and the coupe like roofline are typical GT elements and is a futuristic take on an Electric GT car. With  a length of 4.7m and a width of 2.18m the Trezor has dimensions of a typical GT.

However what really sets it apart is the clamshell roof that extends almost all the way from the trunk to the windshield. The tubular steel pipes at the front and the rear are joined together by a carbon-fibre spine resulting in considerable weight savings. The Trezor weighs just 1600kg and is powered by an electric motor producing 345bhp and 380Nm of torque. The Trezor will accelerate from 0-100kmph in under four seconds.

The Renault Zoe Sport Concept was also showcased along with a concept that was designed by a student. Renault ran a competition where the best design won the opportunity to be showcased as a full-size concept at the Auto Expo. The three runners up also had scale models of their design put up for display.
