2018 Maruti Suzuki Ciaz launched at Rs. 8.19 lakh

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd has launched the Ciaz with a new engine and some cosmetic tweaks. The new Ciaz will now also come with the K15 1.5-litre petrol engine. The base petrol and diesel variants are priced at Rs. 8.19 and 9.19 lakh while the top specced petrol-automatic and diesel variants cost Rs.10.97 lakh each (ex-showroom, India).

The most striking upgrades on the new Ciaz are seen at the front as the sedan gets a redesigned front fascia. It features an all-new grille with chrome bezels and a sharper looking front bumper. It also gets automatic LED projector headlamps with new DRLs.

Under the hood, the Smart Hybrid system comes with a lithium-ion battery pack and offers features like idle start-stop, brake energy regeneration along with a torque assist function. Thanks to the modern tech, the new petrol Ciaz will now have more power than the outgoing petrol model with the company claiming that it will be much more refined too. The new 1.5-litre engine will deliver an output of 103bhp at 6000rpm and 138nm of torque at 4400rpm.

On the roll-out of the new Ciaz, Mr Kenichi Ayukawa, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki said, “ At Maruti Suzuki we always try to get newer, advanced and greener technologies to India. Ciaz is the first car in India to be powered by the new generation smart hybrid technology with lithium-ion battery. Over the past few years, Ciaz has redefined the sedan segment with its class-leading space, design and sophistication. With fresh changes, we are confident that the new Ciaz will a present a complete package in line with aspirations of evolving customers”

According to Maruti, the new engine will deliver a fuel efficiency of 21.56km/l. Meanwhile, the existing 1.3-litre DDiS Smart Hybrid Diesel Engine Ciaz will continue to be on offer.
