We’ve published 41 issues of evo India so far. Looking back at my journey, it almost feels surreal to see how far we’ve come. What started as a passion project has become something so much bigger. I am thankful to be part of such a special journey, where I’ve experienced and learned so much.
Starting today, every Thursday, I’ll be taking a look back at some of the best shoots I’ve been a part of and share my experiences with the readers.
Let’s start with what I consider one of the most special days as an automobile photo journalist.
This was the cover for the third issue of evo India and we got the opportunity to do something that had never been done before – shooting the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster and the Lamborghini Aventador Coupe together. This was the first time in the world that such a photoshoot was taking place.
However, there were many challenges we had to deal with.
This shoot will always be a memorable one. We had very little time on our hands though to shoot these beauties on the streets of Bangalore. But despite the limited time, we managed to pull it off really well.
The shot through the dash is one of my personal favourites. It was from that time that I got hooked to experimenting with different types of angles and shots.
The lesson to learn here is that an automobile photo journalist has to be prepared for all and any conditions. The time you have to think and plan is absolutely minimal, and you have to make every minute count. The writers will be itching to drive the cars, the light will be constantly changing and if you have lost time early in the morning then the crowds that gather to watch these beauties will make it difficult to get clear frames. All the hardwork usually pays off when you see pictures like these.
Here are some of my favourite shots from the shoot:
