The first round of FMSCI motorcycling championship gets off to an eventful start

AT THE END OF THE first round of the MMSC FMSCI Indian National motorcycling championship at the Kari Motor Speedway it was Mathana Kumar of Ten10 racing who took top honours in the top Group C (165cc) category open class. Kumar, the 23-year old from Tiruchi and riding the Honda CBR, destroyed the field in both the races with some near-flawless riding to win from start to finish.

Also winning two races was
the 22-year old from Coimbatore VishwadevMuraleedharan, in the Group D (165cc) novice class and AbhishekVasudev of Bengaluru, a racing instructor at the Apex Racing Academy, in the Suzuki Gixxer Cup open category. Likewise, Kerala’s AmarnathMenon won both the races IntheSuzukiGixxerCupfor novice riders. Both Vishwadev and Abhishek faced little opposition as they opened up a gap in the very first lap of their respective races.

In the novice class(Group D 130cc) it was 20-year old KannanKarnan who fought his way to a fine win
in the second race of the Group D (130cc) novice class despite four stitches on his left palm after he crashed twice on Saturday in the first race. Lying in second position till the sixth lap, Kannan slipped past leader Yashwin Kumar and held the lead for a brilliant victory.

Meanwhile, Deva Umapathy, who had won the first race in the Group
D (130cc) novice class on Saturday, was disqualified for a technical infringement, thus handing victory to Yashwin Kumar.
