Tata Tigor launched at Rs 4.7 lakh

The third compact sedan from the Tata Motors stable has been launched with prices starting from Rs 4.7 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

With the Tigor, Tata has also coined the ‘styleback’ name, that essentially highlights a different approach to the styling of the rear end of the Tigor sedan. Unlike other 3-box sedans in this sub-4 metre segment, that get a stubby boot due to short length, the Tigor’s windscreen gets a lot more rake and flows better in to the rear design of the car. The Styleback is inspired by the fastback/notchback design but the windscreen doesn’t open up with the boot because the company says that the customer in this segment prefers the regular design of a conventional boot opening.
The higher set windscreen and clever engineering to open the boot has resulted in 419 litres of boot space, which makes it best in the segment. A large boot hasn’t eaten in on the cabin space though. Tata Motors has increased the wheelbase by 50mm over the Tiago, so the Tigor is relatively spacious on the inside. The rear seat gets an armrest too over the hatchback.

The Tigor comes with a touchscreen infotainment system with the connectnext suite of applications that will mirror your phone on the screen and comes in handy for navigation specifically.
The Tigor is powered by the same 1.2-litre Revotron petrol and 1.05-litre Revotorq diesel engine, both mated to 5-speed manual gearboxes. The petrol makes 84bhp and 114Nm and the diesel makes 69bhp and 140Nm. The Zest, Xcent, Amaze, Swift Dzire, Ameo and Figo Aspire are the Tigor’s competitors.
