Shelby celebrates 50 years of the Super Snake with a 750bhp Mustang!

Mustang frenzy is happening right now as America prepares to welcome the MY17 car in its full glory after revealing the convertible variant, Shelby has revealed an uprated iteration of the pony car which makes a staggering 750bhp in the supercharged format. As you might have already guessed, the production is limited to just 500 cars.

The Super Snake badge was first seen on the 1967 Shelby GT500 that was powered by a 7-litre V8 engine from the GT40, but the project was scrapped as the car’s price went overboard. The badge was reused in 2007 on the Mustang GT500 upgrade that increased the power output to either 600 or 725bhp. And now to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the badge, Shelby has tuned the existing 5-litre V8 in two states of tune – 670bhp and 750bhp (supercharger). The MY17 Super Snake can thus accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.5 seconds and finish the quarter mile run in just 10.9 seconds.

To impress the Europeans, the chassis has been treated to some upgrades for better cornering abilities. The dampers, springs and anti-roll bars have been tweaked to accommodate the power. The braking ability has been improved too, with six-piston Wilwood calipers doing duty at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear. And there are those 20-inch wheels to add to the drama.
