Second generation Mini John Cooper Works Countryman revealed

Mini has revealed the second generation performance variant of the Countryman. In the John Cooper Works avatar, the Countryman makes 231bhp of power which is the maximum ever in a Mini car.

Powering the Countryman is a 2-litre, 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which makes 228bhp and 350Nm, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Also on offer is an optional 8-speed automatic gearbox. 0-100km sprint is clocked in just 6.5 seconds and can go all the way to a top speed of 234kmph. The Countryman is developed by the JCW racing team and has a single-joint spring strut axle at the front and multilink rear axle to enhance the cornering capabilities of the car. It also gets traction control and differential lock system. The JCW Countryman comes with a rotary dial to choose between the three driving modes, the Sport, Mid and Green driving modes. These driving modes alters the dynamic damper system and in sport, the car improves the acceleration response and steering response.

To improve aerodynamics, the Countryman now gets larger cooling inlets and a rear spoiler. 19-inch rims are also a part of the optional package. The sporty theme is also carried forward to the interiors and JCW sports seats and a sports steering wheel are part of the package. There is also an 8.8-inch Harman Kardon touchscreen infotainment system on offer that gets a built-in navigation system. The comfort of the passengers is not forsaken for all that power and comes fitted with a JCW heads-up display, and a panorama glass roof, 2-zone automatic air conditioning, seat heating for driver and front passenger. The car also comes with a boot capacity of  450 liters which can be expanded to 1390 liters by folding the rear seats, customers can also opt for an electrically operated tailgate.

The 2018 Countryman will be put up for display at the Shanghai Motor Show, which will be held in April 2017. Expect this Mini to land up on our shores in 2018.
