Roadster unveils exclusive MotoGP collection

Myntra’s top-selling outdoor lifestyle brand, Roadster, has collaborated with MotoGP to launch its all-new line of licensed Roadster MotoGP collection. This collection has been designed and bought into the market after an extensive research towards the need of today’s Indian biking community and the true spirit of the FIM MotoGP World Championship as well. Engineered with premium quality fabric, the special-edition touring collection includes denims, t-shirts and abrasion-resistant jackets.

Roadster promises to incorporate style, comfort and advanced fitting solutions in their all-new apparel range. The abrasion-resistant jacket is integrated with air vents, accordion panels, adjustable straps and detachable thermal lining to suit any weather conditions. The hand-made denim riding pants are made of indigo fabric and are hand discharged, for enough stretch and resilience while riding and walking. Designed and constructed to absorb moisture, the Roadster special-edition t-shirts are dyed in luminous paint, which glow in the dark, keeping rider’s safety and comfort in mind.

The ballpark figure thrown by Roadster for the jacket is around Rs. 10,000 and for shirts and t-shirts it might be Rs. 1000 and Rs. 900 accordingly, which means India’s leading retailer for fashion and lifestyle brand has hit the right spot with the international sports management company Dorna Sports, keeping functional design and affordability in mind.

Speaking about the association with MotoGP, Gunjan Soni, Chief Marketing Officer and Head of International Brands Business, Myntra said, “By becoming the first Indian clothing brand to partner with MotoGP – the world’s premier motorcycling championship, we hope to abide by Roadster’s fiery attitude to evocate relentless oomph. The premium motorcycle industry in India is set to grow at a CAGR of 30% during 2014-2019. This is fueling a surge in biking enthusiasts on the look-out for high-quality riding accessories and apparel. We understand that motorcycling is more than a sport but a thriving lifestyle for today’s youth and hope to address the growing demand for functional and stylish motorcycling fashion in India through this association.”

Pau Serracanta, Managing Director, Commercial Area, at Dorna Sports commented: “MotoGP has a rich legacy in the motoring segment. The mushrooming number of motorcycling festivals and biker’s clubs in India is a testament to the growing interest of biking in India. However, we find the motorcycling apparel segment a largely under-served market in the country. By collaborating with India’s favorite outdoor apparel brand-Roadster, we look forward to present the bikers of the country with a range of biking apparels which will take charge of both their safety and style quotient. After all, MotoGP stands for not just speed and thrill, but also for responsible riding.”

Recently, Royal Enfield had partnered with Flipkart to sell its lifestyle merchandise through the online retailing giant. Myntra(a subsidiary of Flipkart) seems to be moving in the right direction, looking at the current Indian automobile industry trends with Royal Enfield selling 50,000+ motorcycles in the month of July and other superbike makers doing decent numbers.
