Maruti Suzuki Ignis launched: Five things you must know

Maruti Suzuki has just launched its much take about Ignis. Here are the details straight from the launch:

Since it was first showcased at the Auto Expo last year, the Maruti Suzuki Ignis has been one of the most awaited cars of this year. India’s largest car manufacturer launched this brand new hatch in Delhi today with a ‘None of a kind’ celebration. Dubbed Electronation, the launch event saw live performances by DJs of international repute, including Axwell. Here are some critical things you should know about the Ignis-

1. Engine options – Customers have a choice of a 1.2 litre petrol engine with 82bhp and 113Nm or the 1.3 litre DDiS diesel with 74bhp and 190Nm. In either case you have the choice of a manual transmission or the increasingly popular AGS (AMT).

2. Trim levels – Available in four variants, the Ignis is available in both automatic and manual options. However, the base Sigma trim is only sold with the petrol unit.

3. Colour options – There are a total of nine colour options, ranging from white to blue, and includes three dual tone options a la Vitara Brezza.

4. Point of sale – The Ignis is the third car after the S-Cross and Baleno, to be retailed from Maruti’s Nexa showrooms. Indeed, the Ignis is being marketed as a premium urban compact vehicle for millennials and will be the most affordable car in the Nexa line-up.

Over and above this, the car features LED projector headlamps with DRLs, tab like audio system, infotainment system with Android Auto, Apple Carplay and Mirror Link. On the safety front kit gets ABS, EBD, and ISOFIX child restraint system, among others.

5. Price – Starts at Rs. 4.59 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi for the petrol while the diesel is priced at Rs. 6.39 lakh.

Sigma: Rs. 4.59 lakh

Delta: Rs. 5.19 lakh

Zeta: Rs. 5.75 lakh

Alpha: Rs. 6.69 lakh

Automatic:

Delta: Rs. 5.74 lakh

Zeta: Rs. 6.30 lakh

Diesel-Manual:

Delta: Rs. 6.39 lakh
