Mercedes-AMG G 63 Edition 463 and GLS 63 launched

Mercedes-Benz India is on a roll. After launching the Made in India E220 d recently, the German carmaker has now gone ahead and launched performance variants of its SUVs. The G 63 AMG Edition 463 and GLS 63 AMG are priced at Rs 2.17 crore and Rs 1.58 crore, respectively (ex-showroom, Pune).

The G-wagen, better known as the G63 has been around for almost four decades. In the Edition 463 trim, it gets carbon fibre elements and dual tone leather inserts on the inside. On the outside the special edition gets AMG sport trims on the flanks and 21-inch wheels. It still gets the 5.5-litre supercharged V8 that helps it achieve the 100kmph mark in just 5.4 seconds.

On the other hand, the GLS 63 AMG gets a collapsible spare wheel, chrome fins, red brake calipers, logo projecting ORVMs and the AMG body kit. Mechanically, there are no changes and the SUV shares the same engine with the G63. It also gets Mercedes-Benz’s permanent 4 wheel drive system.

At the launch event, Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India said, “Our AMG portfolio has witnessed overwhelming success and we are thrilled to introduce two new performance SUVs in India. “One man, one engine” is more than a guiding philosophy for us, it’s a pedigree of performance. It is a testament brought to life during several years of gruesome off-roading and seamless track testing, that this particular engine – the 5.5 Litre, bi-turbo V8 engine has sublimely mastered. Both the SUVs have uniquely fulfilled the desires of those ardent enthusiasts, who believe in scintillating performance regardless of the terrain, time, temperature or topography.  With the launch of these supreme performance SUVs, we now offer 9 AMG models in India.”

The luxury SUVs are now available across Mercedes-Benz showrooms across India.
