Maybach 6 concept showcased at Concours d’Elegance

Mercedes-Benz is showcasing the futuristic 737bhp Maybach 6 concept at the premiere car collector’s event, the Concours d’Elegance, which is being held at Pebble Beach, California.

As the name suggests, the stunning concept is 6-metres long with a coupe-like roofline and a stretched overhang at the rear. It is longer than the S-Class by four-inches and is lower to the ground by six-inches. The hood is stretched to the extremes just like the AMG GT and looks elegant. The taillights are split and rear-end is again carried over from another concept car, the Vision Gran Turismo. The massive 24-inch wheels fill the arches to the brim. Overall, the design looks futuristic and carries lots of elements from the classic era at the same time, creating a silhouette that pleases the eyes. Even at the premiere collector’s cars event, The Maybach 6 concept holds its own in company of legendary cars like the Lamborghini Miura and Bizzarrini Strada.

The ‘classic yet futuristic’ theme is carried over on the inside too. Starting with gull-wing doors, the instrument cluster gets a set of analog displays seen in classic cars while the windscreen is a whole heads-up display unit that seems to be carried straight out of the sets of Minority Report. The seats too are built with ‘artificial intelligence’ being kept in mind and understand the passenger’s mood and set the lighting and massager accordingly.

The long front hood here does not hold the engine but your suitcases (several of those). Yes, there is no V12 powering this Maybach but four electric motors feeding kilo watts to each of the wheels. Each of the electric motor is connected to an 80kwh battery. The Maybach 6 makes a total of 737bhp of power which can propel this 6-metre long megacoupe to 100kmph in less than four seconds and max out to a limited speed of 250kmph. All this, with a range of 320km. A Combined Charging System (DC power) gets enough juice to run the car for a distance of 100km in five minutes. Also on offer is a wireless charging device.

If that excites you, you can head to Pebble Beach ($375 pass/Rs 25,158) and ask Mercedes-Benz to make this concept a reality.
