Maruti Suzuki is teasing an all-new compact car design that might end up as a compact car in the future. Maruti Suzuki is calling it #ConceptFutureS and has now put out an image of the silhouette of the upcoming car. The image reveals a rather unusual upright stance that is made possible by the angle of the windscreen. The car on the whole seeks to be muscular and SUV like in its proportions and in the general shape of the car. The windshield is curved and has a slight wrap-around effect ensuring that the treatment of the A-pillar is rather distinct. Also, the B-pillar is conspicuous by its absence. The rear is typical SUV-like with the car squatting on a wider backside. The headlights and taillights are narrower, while the roofline slopes backward and is met by the rear windshield that flows into the boot. Maruti will unveil the concept at the Auto Expo 2018 and will provide us with some more details in the run up to the Auto Expo. There is no word yet on if and when the concept will end up as a production car.
Explaining #ConceptFutureS Mr.CV Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering), Maruti Suzuki India Limited said, “The increasing preference for UVs and their bold architecture inspired our design team to study a new character for compact cars. ConceptFutureS could mark a distinctive shift in how compact cars are shaped and designed in India in the future. Maruti Suzuki design team feels that ConceptFutureS epitomizes the next level of design evolution in terms of design proportions, body sculpting and stimulating fusion of bold patterns and superior accent colors. It is a big step-up in design language.”
