Stirring up the sub-4m segment, Hyundai India today launched the upgraded Xcent in Delhi. The car will be available with both petrol as well as diesel engine options, with six variants of the former and five of the latter on offer for customers. Each of them get four colour options but white will probably be the most popular going by past trends.
Pegged as the stylish family sedan, the new Xcent gets the Fluidic Design 2.0 treatment, which sees a revised grille that is now similar to what we see on the larger Elantra. The tail lamps too have been changed and in place of the earlier staid units, look sharper now. The dual tone interiors are now finished in beige and grey, which Hyundai says will enhance the feeling of space in this compact sedan.
The petrol version will be powered by the tried and tested 1.2-litre Kappa dual VTVT unit with 81bhp while the diesel version now gets the new 1.2-litre U2 CRDi unit with 73bhp. While you can get both with manual transmissions, the petrol will also be available with the option of an automatic gearbox.
The new Xcent is also feature packed with a first-in-segment 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There is also a smartphone holder with a charging function for added convenience. The Xcent now also gets dual airbags and ABS as standard fitment across the range.
