Chevrolet has recently introduced the new 2019 model Corvette ZR1, which the company claims is the fastest and the most powerful production Corvette ever made. Talking about power, this American sportscar has 755bhp under the hood, thanks to the new larger capacity supercharger and the new dual-fuel injection system (direct and port injection) the LT5 6.2-litre V8 motor churns out 969Nm of torque, all of which is sent to the rear wheels. Transmission options include a 7-speed manual and an 8-speed automatic with paddle shifters. The company also claims that the top speed of the new Corvette is over 338kmph.
For the 2019 model, the ZR1 is available with the option of two aero packages. The first package includes a standard rear low wing that generates 70 percent more downforce than the Z06s base aero package and helps maintain high speed stability while the other package includes a two-way adjustable high wing that generates 431Kg of downforce and is more suited for track purposes. A downforce enhancing front underwing is standard on both the packages.
“As the highest-performing Corvette ever, the ZR1’s design supports its capability in every way,” said Kirk Bennion, Exterior Design manager. “The new wings, for example, help generate more downforce without adding drag, enhancing road holding and top speed,” he added.
On the inside it features leather-trimmed seats, carbon-fibre rimmed steering wheel, audio system from Bose and a performance data recording system. The 2019 Chevrolet ZR1 will be available in the North American markets by second quarter next year.
