#BestOf2017 Indian Car – Hyundai Verna

When the new Verna was being launched a few months ago, it had an uphill task for itself: going up against the Honda City. But the sheer manner in which it has outdone the City speaks volumes about the car. The Verna betters the City in almost every department. Something that has really impressed us is the handling which is head and shoulders above the rest of the playing field – the Honda City included. The new Verna is based on Hyundai’s new K2 platform but gets the same set of 1.6-litre engines as the previous model, which are also shared with the Creta. The diesel motor pumps out 126bhp of power and 260Nm of torque while the petrol motor produces 121bhp of power and 150Nm of torque. Both the engines are available with the option of a 6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic transmission. The Verna is also this year’s ICOTY.

We reviewed the Verna shortly after its launch. Read it here.
