General Motors India launched the facelifted version of the Cruze today. The car now gets a refreshed front end with a chrome grill and day time running lights on the bumper along with C-shaped chrome surrounds for the fog lamps. It gets a new 7-inch MyLink touchscreen infotainment music system with an inbuilt reverse camera. The stereo system comes embedded with applications including internet radio functionality (Sticher Smart Radio), Grace Note & Siri eyes free compatibility. It also gets Bluetooth audio streaming and telephony with voice recognition control and touch controls for the automatic climate control and a vehicle personalisation setting. At the rear, there is a new boot lip spoiler. It gets two front airbags standard across all the three variants.
As before, buyers will have a choice between a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission unit which is mated to a turbocharged 2.0-litre VCDi engine.The engine a delivers maximum power output and max torque of 164 bhp and 380 Nm respectively and this makes it the most powerful diesel in its segment. The company claims 17.9 kmpl for the manual gearbox and 14.81 kmpl for it’s automatic counterpart. The Cruze will be direct competition to the Volkswagen Jetta, the Skoda Octavia and the Toyota Corolla Altis.
