2017 CLA launched at Rs 31.4 lakh

Mercedes-Benz India has launched its 12th car in India, the 2017 CLA. On mechanical front, the coupe has received no changes whatsoever. There are a few changes though, when it comes to the interiors as well as some indistinguishable tweaks to the exterior.

If you are a keen observer, you will notice that the changes to the front are minimal. The headlights have been laid out as earlier, but restructured to incorporate new set of LEDs. The front bumper has been slightly revised too. At the rear, the smoked tail lights give way to beefier exhaust pipes. Everything else remains unchanged. The CLA has always been a great looking vehicle, so the German carmaker has not played around much.

On the inside, the story continues. The seat upholstery has been revamped, giving it an even sportier look. The COMAND infotainment system now gets a larger 8-inch display with slightly better resolution, followed by Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The drive mode selector has been now renamed to ‘Dynamic Select’ and the CLAS still gets the same driving modes – Economy, Comfort, Sport and Sport+.

The existing powertrains have not been tinkered with and the CLA still gets the 2.2-litre diesel and 2-litre petrol options. The petrol engine churns out 181bhp and a healthy 300Nm thanks to a variable geometry turbocharger and can clock 100kmph in 7.1 seconds. The diesel has the same amount of torque as the petrol while the power is slight higher at 182bhp. Although, it is a whole 2 seconds slower to get to 100kmph. Both the engines are mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox.

The 2017 CLA is now available at a Mercedes-Benz dealership near you.
